Family History Research Fees
Merlin Genealogy Solutions family history research fees are different for each project undertaken to take account of the complexity and time that the project or task may/will take. Our fees are based on the following:
The initial 1 hour consultation is free. After reviewing with clients, their aims and objectives, more accurate fees can be agreed. All fees and costs are inclusive of VAT where applicable. For the majority of projects, time is usually charged by the hour providing clients with the flexibility to choose how much time they wish spent on a project or task.
Where birth, marriage and death certificates are needed, or wills and letters of administration, these are charged at the rates issued by the relevant General Record Office or Court Office respectively.
Our family history research findings can be presented in a presentation folder together with a simple tree, bringing your families past alive.
Travel fees are charged where applicable.
Should costs be incurred during visits to libraries, archives or record offices, for example entrance, photocopying and photography permits these will be charged back to the client.
A deposit may be requested at the start of the project with the balance payable upon completion. We are able to accept a variety of payment methods.
Prior consent from the client is always sought before any expenditure above what has been agreed is incurred.
Heirs & Probate
Our fees for work related to heirs and probate are individually calculated / negotiated for each commission undertaken.
Speaking & Workshops
Speaking and workshops are individually negotiated at the time of booking.
Gift certificates for research make an ideal present and may be purchased from our online store. All certificates are issued in a presentation envelope and are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
